The Interest of Many

For their Interest,

pinching the papercut.

Dewdrops of red against the monochrome page,

angry veins spread from the pinprick,

seeping,

covering the labels

stifling the meaning.

Leaking from letter to letter,

swallowing them whole.

They’ll not be missed.

They did not exist.

Another syllable blocked beneath,

the slinking red veins,

twisting the picture,

that the letters no longer paint.
